we see Carolyn, is she fat? Obese? for a mother at ~55. Should she definetely lose some weight? My answer is No, unless she has systolic hypertension, overheartbeating problem after some vigorous activities such as carrying 20kg shopping bags etc., or some other abnormal blood parameters. But, she is at her upper allowed healthy limits of weight for her age, thus she is better to watch her weight, maintain her weight or drop ~5 pounds per year for a couple year. But, if she is very healthy, kidney etc, she never needs to lose weight in a short time, such short term weight loosing diets rather may increase her appetite, confuse her eating habits. That her body is fatter than Marlyn Monroe, that Marilyn Monroe has better looks should not make us call her obese. Her aim seems is not to be movie star as Marily Monroe but a mother.
By aging anyone loses some healthy fat tissue under skin, even if some unwanted fat increases at stomach, hips. Some under skin fat, as on face, bumps skin, streches wrinkles and makes skin look younger. Carolyn is using her advantage of her fat tissue to look younger specially on her face; but with some other female faces, same weight, similar excess fat would rather cause older face look.  Having a nice facelook sometimes occur  with increasing weight, Carolyn knows this, she knows that her face rather than her body draws attention, and uses her upper healthy weight limits preference for younger looked face. Her profession seems to match her body weight good,
but such excess weight would not be healthy or nice on myself at age 55, or on most of woman at age 55. Because, I sit long hours against computer and my sitting would not allow a good circulation over my fat tissue. Whereas her job allows her body constant moving, circulation in fat tissue, her profession allows her to take care of her body fat  better.
It is a good idea that Carolyn does not hurry into weird too low calorie, such as 500 Calories/a day (too fast weight loosing plans) diets, but she correctly seeks for confortable, easy-going dresses to fit her body. Since she is not a short, petite woman(Carolyn's height is taller than average female height for world, she is taller than Marlyn Monroe), carolyn will loose weight even with a 1400 Calories/day diet healthly. Since Carolyn has a full body, as a start she may even lose weight with 1500 Calories/day diet. If she walks an additional 1 hour/a day regularly, Carolyn may even drop weight, even eating 1800 Calories/day. However, she definetely needs to have checked her heart, her blood pressure. Most women forgets about their ultimate life aim, their age, their successful work; and,
instead of looking for her current healthy body(after medical checkup) matching dresses, follows unhealthy diets towards too fast weight loosing. Even if she plans to lose weight some day, I agree that as a start, most important thing to do is to succeed in maintaining current weight, to take care of current weight needs.
Believe me, there are so many penny-pincher woman, instead of buying new dresses for their normally changing bodies, they follow unhealthy fast weight loosing diets and they further increase their appetite or harms their protein, mineral, cofactor, vitamin level of body.
Body weight should fit to aims of a person. She is already a mother, probably her plan is not
another pregnancy. But, a person planning to be pregnant at her weight/height at 55, definetely needs to drop at least 15 kgs(~33 pounds) for a healthy body.
A body what for? should be always asked to evaluate ideal body weight.
